BJ loves when we sit on the floor and play with him. He loves to interact with us (and the dog, but Eli is somewhat reluctant to play). It is amazing how fast he is understanding how things work. For instance, he has been driving around his wooden tractor around the room like he is driving it. I can’t believe that he is doing that at 11 months (okay, he might not be pretending he is driving it but just watching the wheels move, but I still think he is a genius)! I have been in search of more toys that will allow BJ to role play and develop his imagination.
Recently we received a hand puppet from Cate and Levi to play with and BJ just loves it. Whenever I put the puppet on and talk to him he giggles and giggles, it is the most amazing sound. He just started realizing that the puppet comes off of mommy’s hand if he pulls hard on it. I can really see his brain working when he is engaged in active play. He looks from the puppet to me and back. With my educator background, I know that developing dramatic play skills early on will help BJ socially in the years to come (but lets face it, all the mumbo-jumbo aside, I love just playing with my boy).
Cate and Levi is a Canada shop the creates handmade, one of a kind, toys and wall art using all natural and reclaimed materials. Each item is a unique creation handmade buy the owner, Josh Title, and his production team in their studio in Toronto, Canada. We received the Moose Puppet, and I was amazed by the craftsmanship that went into making the puppet. It is durable (which is very important when living with a 11 month old boy) and very beautifully designed, Eco-chic. What makes this company even more special is that they donate 10% of their profits to funds that help children in need. What a wonderful way to support children, be environmentally responsible, and have a lot of fun playing with your child!
